Hello!
My name is Valentijn Stijger. I am a biology student at Leiden University that is finishing up his bachelor’s degree.
The main reason for creating this website is to gain more knowledge on WordPress, CSS/HTML and everything that comes with maintaining a website. One of the ways I do this is by involving my interest for local biodiversity to create little biodiversity projects where i showcase interesting findings and play around with different features.
I am also trying to familiarize myself with Python, as it can be quite useful in biological research. These little python projects are also shared here. They are currently still very simple but I am planning to update this site with my progression.
Python
Although my bachelor in biology gave me a good understanding of the statistical software R, I also noted that understanding the basics of Python can be quite usefull. Especially considering that computational biology will become increasingly imporant. I also practice my coding minigames using the PyGame library.
Biodiversity
Most biological research today takes place in a lab or behind a computer. But I am also interested in local nature. That is why I create this little hobby projects.
Additionally, this gives me some content to play around with and get more familiar with WordPress. And it gives me also some data and ideas for python projects.
